Residence permit is a document that gives rights for a foreign citizen to stay in Republic of Latvia for a certain amount of time. It is required, if you want to stay in Republic of Latvia for more than 90 days in one half of the year, starting to count from the day of the arrival.
Latvia is a member of EU and Schengen agreement treaty. Residence permit obtained in Latvia allows you to visit any other Schengen member state without obtaining visa.
